Where Do We Go From Here
We go forward, Full speed full strength. Now that we have seen the council change its heart and put its full weight to bear to hold the line on the Transmission lines and the landfill issues we find ourselves in a very strong and united position. Now we will be able to face all issues that are here now and are to come. I now believe I see leadership that will be effective in bringing a community together, not that everyone will always agree on every issue, but that we will seek to find the common ground, to find the balance between what’s wanted and what’s needed. For the first time in a while I am hopeful that the city can come together for one purpose. To let our city to expand by allowing our existing business’s to grow, and making this city attractive to new families and larger business’s by keeping our schools up to date and excelling, so we will not only have manufacturing companies but medical and research facilities along with all the service industries that go along with them. Too finally to have a grocery store with shops of all kinds so we can continue to shop Hutto. Right now our money goes where people go and unfortunately we have people who have to shop elsewhere for their groceries so they shop elsewhere for their other needs. But we can purpose to help the local businesses now by shopping here first as much as possible. Dine here, buy goods here, use local help for your services for your home and your cars. We can start now and see a change in the whole picture. So full speed forward, let’s encourage each group in Hutto to make the council meetings voice our opinions and help our local government to govern. It is not easy to govern a people who will not participate in the process. I believe this can only be accomplished through the community uniting in a common vision to achieve a common and simple goal. To make sure the decisions we make are to the benefit and prosperity of the city as a whole. A city is not just about money, it is about the everyday life, safety and hope that people who have grown up here and poured their hearts, sweat and prayers into that vision for not only themselves but also for their children. My wife and I moved here 5 years ago because it is her family name. It was her ancestor who this town is named after and we thought how wonderful it is to come home in a way. I have been too many a Hutto family reunion in south Texas over the years which are stories all onto themselves. I have met many good and wholesome people, strong community minded people who continue to invest their time and money into Hutto. And new comers like my wife and myself who along with many other new people in this city who were made to feel welcome to build upon the foundation which we found here, which drew us here and others here, the family values, the sense of community and the hope of a future based on a continuation of such basic fundamentals. Yes there will be growth, yes there will be change, we will no longer be the small city we once were, but I believe we can hold to its core values and grow wisely as to prosper but not at the expense of our character or our integrity. To all who want to be a part of this please let me know.
